Can I change my Mounjaro or Wegovy injection day?
Short answer: Yes. The UK patient leaflets for Mounjaro, Wegovy and Ozempic all allow you to change the day of your weekly injection as long as it has been at least 3 days (72 hours) since your last dose. The US labels for Wegovy and Ozempic say at least 2 days (48 hours), and Zepbound 3 days. After the change, carry on once a week from the new day. If you are unsure, ask your prescriber or pharmacist first, and make sure your reminders move with you.
Why people change their injection day
- Side effects land on a day you need to be at your best, such as a work day or a weekend away.
- A holiday, shift change or hospital appointment gets in the way.
- A delivery arrives late and the first dose from the new pen is a few days behind.
- You simply want a day that is easier to remember.

Moving it earlier or later
Moving later is usually the simpler direction. For example, if you inject on Thursdays and want Saturday instead, you just take the next dose two days late, on Saturday, then carry on every Saturday. The gap is 9 days, not less than the minimum, and you have not missed anything as long as you stay within the missed-dose window in your leaflet.
Moving earlier shortens the gap. Going from Thursday to Monday means injecting 4 days after the last dose, which is within the 3-day minimum. Moving from Thursday to the very next day, Friday, would leave only 1 day and is not allowed. If in doubt, go later rather than earlier.
A one-off move versus a permanent change
These are different things, and mixing them up is how people lose track.
- One-off: this week's dose moves, and the week after goes back to the usual day, provided the gap to it is still long enough.
- Permanent: the new day becomes your jab day from now on.
Either way, write down the date you actually injected. A week later, "was it Saturday or Sunday?" is exactly the kind of doubt that leads to a missed or doubled dose.
Make your reminders follow
The most common problem after changing day is an old reminder still firing on the old day. Phone alarms and calendar entries do not know you moved anything, so change them at the same moment you decide on the new day.

Can I take Mounjaro a day early?
The Mounjaro leaflet allows changing your injection day if there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between two doses. Taking it one day early on a weekly schedule leaves 6 days, which is within that rule, but check with your prescriber if you are unsure.
Can I take Wegovy 2 days late?
The UK Wegovy leaflet allows a missed dose to be taken within 5 days, and a change of injection day as long as at least 3 days have passed since the last injection. Two days late, then continuing weekly from the new day, fits those rules.
Do I need to tell my doctor if I change my injection day?
It is sensible to mention it, especially if you are mid-titration or have had side effects. A dated record of when you actually injected makes that conversation easy.
